Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the odor. The information you have received from James is very good. Also be sure to thoroughly clean the inside of the refrigerator with a solution of mild detergent and warm water. I found that the vanilla works very well. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

My icemaker on my Kenmore refridgerator quit making ice and it's out of warranty what can I do that might get it to make ice before calling a repairman, thanks.

A:

This is likely a problem you can check and repair yourself.

The image below contains the instructions to test the ice maker functions.

You can also reach inside the mold and see if there is any water/ice in the mold. If there is ice in the mold not dispensing then the problem is likely with the thermostat on the ice maker.

If there is no water and the mold is empty then the problem will be with the water valve or the fill line is frozen/blocked.

If the mold is empty you can even add a little water to it and see it the ice maker harvests the ice when it freezes.

If the image below is not viewable then check your email for a duplicate image.

I hope this information is helpful to you but submit another question with any additional details for further assistance.
