A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model 253-7481240k; sorry you are having a problem with the ice maker, I will be glad to assist you. Based on you descriptions of the freezer temperature I suspect the ice maker is not working because the freezer is not maintaining a low enough temperature to allow cycling. Ice makers in refrigerators require a maintained temperature of around five degrees. Inside the ice maker is a small thermostat that tells the ice maker motor to start a cycle. This thermostat activates at around seven degrees (in most models) so if you can maintain five degrees the ice maker works best. If the needed temperature is not reached the ice maker will not cycle at all. I would suggest lowering the temperature of your freezer compartment; this should help the ice maker cycle. Ideal temperature for the freezer compartment is suggested to be Zero degrees. This will insure proper ice maker operation and suggested food storage temperatures. I hope this helps, if you need additional help reply with details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.
