Q:

Hello,my lights dont work in my Kenmore Elite fridge.Freezer lights do work, everything else functions fine. What is the best way to trouble shoot?#25374279703

A:

Since the light socket sparked and the light is not working for the Kenmore refrgerator, it would seem it needs replacing. An expert will verifiy and respond with additional information to your specific model. While waiting, check out the link below.

Thank you for your question.  Children and bottle caps.  What else is there to say. The good news is the refrigerator works. This is probably the switch.  I have attached a diagram showing the switch, key #114 and the electrical schematics if needed.  Before attempting any checks or service, unplug the refrigerator. You can pull the switch out and check it. With the switch in the extended position (not pushed in) you should measure continuity (near zero ohms of resistance) across the leads on the switch. You could also test the circuit by taping the ends of the wires together with electrical tape to bypass the switch and then plugging the freezer back in. If the light turns on with the switch bypassed then replacing the switch will fix your problem. If the light will not turn on with the switch bypassed then you have a failed socket or a break in the wiring through the light circuit. Unplug the freezer and properly reinstall the switch following this test.  Parts can be ordered at Sears Parts Direct .  If you would feel more comfortable having a technician make the necessary checks and repairs, a Sears technician can be scheduled at Sears Home Services .
