Question and Answers

Q:

Will my refergerator crisper bins work in any other model?

A:

Thank you for your question though I am afraid I have no definitive answer.  The crispers may work in a model of similar size.  The crispers would need to have similar width, dept and lenght to fit.    The good news is that when I run the 240343803 part number I see that it will fit over 500 models.  If you have a model number of a replacement refrigerator I could check to see it is is one of the 500 models the crisper will fit.   I would be unable to provide a list of the 500 models.  These would all be top mount models.

I can understand your concern about slow ice production. The information you have received is good but it pertains to a different type of problem. On your model, we know the icemaker and water valve are working, so the most likely problem now, will be the freezer temperature. To properly check the temperature, place a thermometer between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. If the temperature gets above 5 degrees, the icemaker will work slow. Now, if there is not much of a load (food) in the freezer it's very possible the temperature could be getting too warm, when it cycles off, before the unit cycles back on again, to cool it back down. This will cause slow ice production. In this case, normally just increasing the load in the freezer, will resolve this problem. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, additional details will be needed.

Thanks for this response. For the most part the freezer is empty. There was a large bowl of crushed ice in there from a while back just to provide some load, but I suspect that was not causing enough load. So last night I emptied this bowl, and filled it with fresh water to freeze. I also cranked up the freezer by one notch, and moved the refrig temp to middle ground (also one notch colder). Checked it this AM, and the water bowl was frozen and there were quite a few more ice cubes produced, but the bin was still not full. Checked it this evening, and it was full enough to shut off the machine. So I agree this unit is working, and I suspect that you are correct in that this is a load issue. I will put some things in the freezer and will also check the temperature as you recommended. Thanks again.
