Question and Answers

Q:

How to remove and replace the deli drawer rail?

A:

Remove the complete shelf from the refrigerator. It lifts up and you can pull it out. There will be some screws holding the rails in place. I'm sending you some pictures and instructions that explains about removing the rails and also what to do if the meat drawer falls out when opened all the way. If it doesn't fall, disregard bending the tab. I hope this helps you. If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.

I need specifics on removing the old broken runner from the shelf & installing a new one. The metal attachment which screws into the plastic rail is straight and not fitting at all.

Was there a response on this? i have the same fridge. the right rail doesn't have a bracket to connect to on both sides. The front slides in but there is nothing on the back to attach the rail to. Please advise. A bit frustrated as I spent $27 on a part that isn't worthwhile. Thank you.

I know it can be frustrating when the icemaker stops working. A common reason for intermittent icemaker production is, from the freezer temperature being too warm. When the temperature gets above 5 degrees the icemaker will slow down and at 10 degrees, it may not work at all. To properly check the temperature, place a thermometer between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. If the temperature is too warm, usually adjusting the thermostat to a colder setting, will correct the problem. If there is not much of a load (food) in the freezer, it can produce warm temperatures at times. This can also be due to a frozen water fill tube, a failed water valve or the icemaker itself. The icemaker may need to be lowered, to check the fill tube (see picture). If the fill tube is frozen, the water valve will need to be replaced. If it's clear, the icemaker will need to be cycled, to help determine what may be causing the problem. To cycle this icemaker, pull the front cover off and turn the small gear counterclockwise (see picture). If the icemaker # 5304458371 cycles and fills it indicates, the icemaker is not cycling on its own and will need to be replaced. If it cycles but doesn't fill and you can hear a humming noise, the water valve # 241803701 will need to be replaced. If nothing happens when the icemaker is advanced, some voltage checks will need to be made. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, please reply with some additional details.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I pulled off the cover but the ice maker I have has only one gear (4-40611-1P). This is the second icemaker I have installed after the old would not refill. This one worked for 3 months and now it won't refill. Any suggestions?

A:

Cort, if your icemaker only has one gear, it must be a different model then the one listed above. Now, if the icemaker cycles but won't fill, it could be a defective valve or icemaker. If you can hear a humming sound behind the unit, it would indicate the valve is being energized but not opening. Also check the fill tube behind the icemaker to see if it's frozen. I hope this will help you. If you would like to have a technician check this, you can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out.
