Question and Answers

If your refrigerator and freezer is only blowing air and not cooling, what could be wrong?

If the evaporator motor is running, the condenser and compressor should also be running. They are all connected to the same circuit. If both the condenser motor and the compressor are not running, I would suspect a broken wire or loose connection. The red line on the attached diagram shows all three components on the same circuit. What it means is, if one is running, all 3 should be running. The red wire to both the compressor and condenser fan motor may be the problem. Disconnect the power to the unit and move the refrigerator out far enough, to access the back compartment. Now remove the back panel cover and you will be able to see the motor, the compressor and wires. Check the red wire, to see if it's broke or if there is a loose connection. It can cause both components to stop running. If these 2 components don't run, there will be no cooling at all and the icemaker will not work, until it starts cooling again. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
