A:

You did not provide enough details of where the water is puddling at. It could be leaking from the water supply connections, the water inlet valve or from the plastic tubing. If your finding water puddling up under the crisper drawers and leaking onto the floor then the most likely failure is a restriction in the drain tube.

The water is not likely coming from the ice maker, it's more likely leaking from the defrost water when the unit goes into a defrost cycle. The drain tube is likely restricted and not allow defrost water to drain properly out of the cabinet.

This type of fix on your specific model will require a service technician to install an external drain tube kit. I recommend calling Sears at 1-800-4MY-HOME or 1-800-469-4663 to set up service.

Q:

Why is the ice maker on my Kenmore model 25371132101 not working?

A:

There are a few different possibilities that can be keeping the ice maker from working.

  • The ice maker itself could be defective
  • A defective water valve
  • An open diode

If the ice maker does cycle check to see if it will fill with water. To cycle this ice maker remove the front cover and turn the small gear to advance the ice maker.

If it won't cycle replace the ice maker. If it does start, watch it till it gets almost to the end for the water fill. If it does fill, again this will indicate a defective ice maker assembly.

If it won't fill then it could be the water valve or the diode. A technician will have the equipment to check the diode. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.

Q:

Why is water leaking into the fresh food section in my refrigerator?

A:

The drain tubing wasn’t extending far enough into the drain cup, which allowed water to drip and run along a liner that was between the foam blocking and the air inlet/housing. The water would then follow the housing and drip down into the food compartment.

To correct the problem in the field, a Ferrule should be inserted into the back opening and extends ¼ inch below the food compartment liner. For 15, 17 and 18 cubic food models, the Ferrule part number is 46 253 240365901. For the 20 cubic foot model, use part number 46 253 240365902. You have the 20 cubic ft. model.

To Replace:

  • Remove the control box in the top of the food compartment.
  • Remove the evaporator cover, tip the evaporator up and support on the left side.
  • Remove the aluminum drain trough
  • Pull the Ferrule out of the insulation(see Figure 2)
  • Push the new Ferrule back into the opening until the top flange is touching the freezer liner. This will allow the Ferrule to extend into the food compartment.
