I can understand your concern. The information you have received is correct. If there is a frost buildup on the back wall in the freezer, this will be a defrost problem. In this case, you can turn the defrost timer knob, which is located in a small opening, in the control housing very slow. When it makes a loud click and the unit stops running, it will be in a defrost cycle. In a few minutes if you can hear a hissing noise in the freezer or see the red glow from the element, it indicates the timer # 215846602 is not advancing and will need to be replaced. If nothing happens, some voltage and resistance checks will need to be made. I recommend having a technician make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, additional details will be helpful.

Also, after removing the icemaker sticker from the back of the frig, there are two open holes. One is for the fill tube, what is the other one for? Should I replace the foam and sticker on the larger of the two holes?

I can understand your frustration, trying to install a complete icemaker kit. Unfortunately, without a model number of the refrigerator and part number of the kit you received, I will not be able to provide any specific information.

If there are 2 holes in the back of the unit, one will be for the water supply and the other could be for a wire harness. Some models have the harness already installed and with others, it will need to be installed. For more assistance, a complete model and serial number will be needed and the part number of the kit you received. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

The Model no. of the Kenmore Refrigerator is 25369822890 and the part no. of the icemaker kit is 2181913 Rev. A. I do not see anything to remove on the side of the freezer that may be covering the wiring harness to plug into the icemaker. Where would the wires be on this 1999 frig.? Thanks for your help.

If the wire harness is already there, it should be a plug already mounted on the side wall inside the freezer. There would also be a loose wire harness down at the bottom, where the water valve is located. If the plug is not there or there is not a loose wire harness at the bottom, then the other hole will be for a wire harness. Now the icemaker kit that this unit calls for is # IM34. I recommend taking the kit back that you received and order this kit. It's available at the link listed below. I hope this will help you.
