That model of refrigerator has a 1 year warranty. You can refer to the details of that warranty in your owner's manual. Here is a link for the manual in case you need it: Owner's Manual for Kenmore Refrigerator Model 253.68884010 . If your refrigerator is still under warranty, I recommend that you call Sears at 1-800-469-4663 (1-800-4MY-HOME). An agent will normally discuss some final troubleshooting steps that you can take and then schedule warranty service if necessary.

If the refrigerator is not under warranty for some reason, then I recommend that you check to see if the compressor is running. You indicated that it sounds like it is running. You may be hearing the evaporator fan. If the compressor is not running then you could have a bad start relay on that compressor.

If that compressor is running but you see no frost pattern on the evaporator then you apparently have a sealed system problem such as low Freon or a bad compressor. A service technician would need to diagnose and repair that type of failure since it would involve the capture and recharge of the refrigerant (Freon). Here is a link for the Sears Service website in case you need to schedule service and the refrigerator is not under warranty: Sears Home Services .

I hope that this information helps. If you need more assistance, reply with additional details and we will assist you further.

Installing some parts can sometimes be a little tricky. The information you have received is correct. It's the only instructions for this kit. There are no other instructions. The only difference it appears in the 2 controls is, with the defrost control. The control shown in the instructions has a defrost control board and the one in your control has, a defrost timer. The installation of the kit should be the same.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
