A:

The fan in the freezer must work to push the air into the refrigerator section. My first thought from the description you give is that the air damper between the freezer and refrigerator had iced over and wash blocked so no air could flow into the refrigerator section. Defrosting the ice in the freezer should not have caused the fan to fail. If the freezer door is open then the fan likely will not run. Push in on the door switch to check if the fan works. One suggestion I have is to turn the unit off with both door open for 24 hours. This should be enough time to enable all the ice/frost to melt. Then turn the unit on and see if everything is cold in 24 hours. The amount of frost in the freezer seems a little excessive since the refrigerator door was left open and not the freezer door. There may be a defrost problem. Let everything thaw and turn it back on to see if there is any improvement. You should be able to hear the fan in the freezer section. No fan then no cold air to the refrigerator section. You can reply with any additional details or questions for further assistance.

Q:

How long after moving do I have to wait before I can plug in my Kenmore refrigerator model 253.67872506?

A:

If the refrigerator was laid on its back or side (or front) and not transported upright (the preferred method) then you will need to wait at least 24 hours to plug it in. Giving it longer (48 hours) would be even better if possible. If you did transport it in the upright position then you should be able to plug it in as soon as it is in place at your new location.
