Your symptoms suggest that you have excessive frost on the evaporator and possibly have an automatic defrost system problem. There are several components in this system that could be preventing your freezer from defrosting properly. The technical information for this system is shown in the image below. You could have a bad timer, an open defrost thermostat or a failed defrost heater. The information below shows how to access and test these components. NOTE: This information is intended for technicians. Follow electrical safety guidelines when using this information. Unplug the refrigerator to disconnect electrical power before accessing internal components. Internal metal edges can be sharp -- especially the evaporator fins. Protective gloves are recommended when accessing internal components.

If you are able to use the technician information below, you should be able to determine the cause of the cooling problem in your refrigerator if it is related to the automatic defrost system.

Other problems could be preventing the refrigerator from cooling properly if the defrost system is working properly and the evaporator does not have excessive frost. If you need more help, submit more details and we will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
