Both refrigerator and freezer not cold enough. 2536482240G Kenmore Refrigerator

Q:

My referigrator is not cooling 2536482240G Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. I can understand the frustration with having an issue with you unit. Let’s see what we can do for you.

Normally when there's an issue with cooling in the fridge, and the fan in the freezer is working, it is the diffuser. Most of the time the thermostat goes out when the diffuser is closed and it never opens it. With the freezer still running the diffuser will get frozen closed.

So it could be just the thermostat. But I recommend replacing both at the same time, especially since you need a fridge to be running properly.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663.

Yes, I have both compartments set as cold as they will go. The problem is that my husband turned the adjustment button on the defrost timer trying to get the new one to work, but the problem was with the defrost thermostat. Now that we have installed the new defrost thermostat it is defrosting TOO much and we don't know how to get it adjusted back to where the freezer will make ice or freeze anything. We need to know how to fix this with the adjustment button on the defrost timer? I know how to turn those knobs all the way to colder, that is where they have been sitting for days.
