Kenmore Side-by-Side Refrigerator Model 25359482993 SN LA93901995 Food in refrigerator freezing and too cold in freezer

A:

It can be a real head-ache when food begins to freeze in the fridge. I did some research and provided a link to a similar question and answer on our site. I hope this will give you a better idea on the next step to take until the Expert responds to your question in more detail within 24 to 48 hours.

Thank you for your question. I understand your concern about the freezer temperature in the fridge section. This model does not have a sensor or control board and the baffle is a mechanical damper. Based on the information listed, with the freezer also getting excessively cold, this leads to a failed cold control (thermostat). When the freezer gets too cold, it can also cause the fridge side to get too cold. If the thermostat # 5303300027 is set to a warmer setting with the same results, it will need to be replaced. The thermostat is available at http://www.searspartsdirect.com/partsdirect/part-number/5303300027/0046/253?pathTaken=directMatch&filterPart=&pop=flush&prst=0&shdPart=5303300027&sid=MMLxexpertxmerch . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thank you for submitting your question. If you're experiencing bad tasting water then you'll need to replace the water tank. The water tank is part number 5303918258 priced at $88.62. You can order the tank from our Sears Parts Direct web site. The water tank is located behind the crisper drawers of your refrigerator. Pull the crisper drawers out to access the tank. Then remove the screw holding it in place. Some tank come with extra connections. If it does have the connections, you can install the new tank back in place and cut the lines on the original and splice the lines to the new tank. If there are no extra connections you will need to disconnect the line under the freezer door and also at the water valve behind the cabinet. Now pull the lines through the cabinet and run the new tube back through the cabinet and reconnect the tube under the door and at the water valve. The image below will instruct you on how the water fittings work. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread with more details if you require further assistance. Thank you for choosing Manage My Life.

I'm sorry you are having a problem with your icemaker. Unfortunately, without a model number, I will only be able to provide some general information. Here are some possibilities why your ice maker is no longer making ice:

  • Make sure that the ice maker is turned on. Many models have a wire arm that must be in the down position. Some models have a switch.
  • Check the temperature of your freezer. Most ice makers must be below 12 degrees before they will cycle. If you have a cooling problem in the freezer, it could prevent the ice maker from making ice.
  • The water valve may be defective and may need replacing.
  • The ice maker fill tube could be frozen preventing any water from filling the ice maker.
  • The ice maker itself could be defective and may need to be replaced.
I hope this will help you. For more assistance, a complete model and serial number will be needed and any additional details will be helpful. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

I have a Kenmore Side by Side model# 25359482993. I had trouble with the water dispenser dripping during this time the ice maker stopped making ice. I replaced the water valve with the two outlets. (This one was clogged with some lime deposits.) The dispenser is working great now. The ice maker tho will go through the normal mechanical cycle, but will not produce ice. I don't hear the water running into the tray. Is it possible to plug the electrical in wrong or does the plug just make a circuit? I did not replace the valve that brings water into the unit from the house.( It looked to be free of deposits.) Since the water dispenser is working properly I feel this one is working correctly.I need help with the troubleshooting.

Tony, since the water dispenser is working ok now, a good check will be to reverse the wire connections on the valve. This will be the blue-white and yellow-white wire connections. Now activate the dispenser and if water runs, the icemaker will need to be replaced. If water still won't run, it would lead back to the water valve. I hope this helps you.
