Question and Answers

Q:

How do I empty this model? 25358400890 Kenmore Dehumidifier

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when needing to empty your dehumidifier.

The drain fitting slides over the drain from the evaporator and takes the water out the back of the cabinet to a drain hose.

If you remove the drain fitting the dehumidifier will drop the water into the tank again.
You can run the drain hose to a sump pump or outside the home. The drain line must have a downward slope all the way to the end. If the hose slopes up anywhere it creates a trap and the water will form algae inside the trap and stop up.

I do apologize due to the age of the product the owner's manual is no longer available.

Q:

I am having problem with my dehumidifier

A:

Thank you for choosing ManageMyLife.com. I understand how frustrating it can be when your dehumidifier freezes up. A dehumidifier can freeze if the room temperature gets lower than 42 degrees, if there is a low charge in the system, if the evaporator or filter is dirty or if the motor stops running. The humidity level in the room must be about 45% for the unit to work properly. Frost may also indicate a lack of air flow in the unit so make sure the fans are running. Be sure to clean the unit of debris and dirt. Try checking for these issues first. If your dehumidifier continues to freeze over, I recommend contacting our technicians 1-800-469-4663 to take a look at it. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services

Thank you for your question on the replacement of the auto shut off bucket switch.

You will need to first unplug the unit from the electrical source.

Remove the control knobs from the controls by pulling up on the knobs.

Then locate and remove the two screws on the lower front panel and lift off panel being careful not do damage the indicator light connected to the front panel lens.

Then remove the filter from the back of the unit.

Then you can remove the four lower cabinet screws and lift off the outer cabinet wrap.

You will see the switch you are replacing on the lower left side bracket. Just remove the screws and replace with new switch.

I hope this will help.
