Q:

ice maker

A:

Cold water and ice on demand is such a nice convenience. I can understand why you would want to fix this issue as soon as possible. A suggestion I have to help the expert provide a better answer is to add the model number of the fridge to this thread. If you would like to schedule repairs, an option is the Sears Home Services link below. I did locate a good troubleshooting guide and added to the second link if you would like to check.

Thanks for the information. I ran out of space on the initial request. The refrigerator is a Kenmore model 25357398600. I can get cold water from the door but no ice. I checked the line going to the ice maker and it is clear. The mechanical fingers try to put out ice but can't because there isn't any water going to the ice maker. I suspect the three way solenoid valve but would like to know if there is a way to verify that before I purchase one.

Thank you for your question. I know it's disappointing when the icemaker stops working. A good check to determine if the valve has failed, will be to, reverse the wires on the solenoid coils. First disconnect power to the unit. The wires will be in pairs, so reverse the tan and blue wire connection with the yellow and blue connection on the 2 coils. Now reconnect the power and activate the water dispenser. Watch to see if water now enters the icemaker with the dispenser activated. If water does flow, the icemaker # 5304458371 will need to be replaced. If no water flows, the water valve # 241734301 will need to be replaced. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.
