Question and Answers

Q:

my icemaker is not making ice

A:

Hello, Refrigerators are very important appliances, when they're not working properly it can be frustrating. If you go to the top of the page here on ManageMyLife and click on the "manuals" button and enter your model number you can troubleshoot. If that doesn't work you may need a tech. You can visit the SearsHomeServices website and use the service scheduler and a tech would be out to assist you. I have provided the link below. I hope this helps!

This could be a problem with the icemaker, the water valve or a diode. You can put the icemaker into a cycle by pressing the on/off switch for approx. 15 seconds. Watch the icemaker cycle and towards the end it should fill with water. If it does cycle and fills, it indicates the icemaker is not cycling on its own. Check the freezer temperature, to see if it's below 10 degrees. The icemaker will not cycle if the temperature is above 10 degrees. To check the temperature, place a thermometer between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. If the temperature is ok, then the icemaker will need to be replaced.

If the icemaker cycled but did not fill with water and you could hear a humming noise, the water valve will need to be replaced. If there was no noise or the icemaker did not cycle, some voltage checks will need to be made. A technician may be needed to make these checks. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
