I'm sorry you are having this problem with your dispenser. Depending on the model, the information you received from Pvalde is good. Unfortunately, without a model number, I will only be able to provide some general information. First, check to see if it's in the lock mode. If it's not in the lock mode, the problem could be with the main board or maybe the freezer door light switch. If you would like more assistance, the complete model and serial number will be needed and any additional details will be helpful. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Thank you for the model number. Check the lock touch pad, to see if the red light is on above it. If it is, it indicates, it's in the lock mode. Press and hold the lock pad for 3 - 5 seconds until the red light goes out, to take it out of the lock mode. If it's not locked, the most likely problem will be with the freezer door light switch. To check the switch, disconnect power to the unit first. Now pry the switch out with a small screwdriver. With the switch out, connect the red and black wires together and make sure they do not touch anything. Reconnect the power and activate the dispenser. If it works now, the switch # 215486600 will need to be replaced. It's available at the link listed below. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further. If you would like to have a technician check this you can call 1-800-469-4663 to schedule a tech to come out.

Yes, first disconnect power to the refrigerator and then connect the black wires to the red wire. Now reconnect the power and press in on the dispenser actuator. If it still doesn't work make sure it's not locked. Please check the dispenser again, the owner's manual does show this model to have a lock mode (see attached picture). If it's not locked but nothing still works, check the electrical connection under the door. If the connection seems ok, the power board # 241708102 in the dispenser may need to be replaced. I recommend having a technician check it first. I hope this helps you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

Q:

Why can't I get cubed ice?

A:

If you can only get crushed ice, it means the gate in the crusher assembly is not opening. It can mean the cube solenoid has failed, the board is not sending power to the solenoid, there is a wiring problem between the board and solenoid or the arm that connects to the gate is binding the solenoid (not very likely). The solenoid is located behind the ice bucket, which you can see with the bucket removed. Disconnect power to the unit and remove the ice bucket to access the solenoid. Now lift up on the plunger, to see if it moves freely. If it feels tight, the solenoid # 241675701 will need to be replaced. If it moves easily, then it can be a voltage problem. If you can hear the solenoid make a buzzing noise when the dispenser lever is pressed, it means the solenoid has failed and will need to be replaced. If nothing happens with the dispenser actuated, some voltage checks will need to be made. The freezer door has to be closed or the light switch pressed in for the solenoid to work. To make the voltage checks, a technician may be needed. I'm listing a site you can check to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.
