Question and Answers

Q:

ice dispenser is only dispensing crushed ice.. 25354662405 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your refrigerator does not dispense cubed ice.

 T
he first thing I would check is 120VAC coming to the solenoid while the ice dispenser calls for whole cubes. Also check the solenoid itself for continuity.

I have attached instructions when cube mode does not work.

Q:

Kenmore 25354662405 ice make replaced, still not working.

A:

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the icemaker stops working. To replace the icemaker, just loosen the top screws and remove the lower screw under the mold. Lift the icemaker to free it from the top screws and now it can be lowered to disconnect the wire harness. Reverse this procedure to install the new icemaker. However, if a new icemaker has been installed and it still doesn't work, it would be very unlikely to be an icemaker problem. Check to see if the fill tube behind the icemaker is frozen. If it is, the water valve will need to be replaced. Another check will be to cycle the icemaker by turning the small gear located under the front cover counterclockwise (see image). Toward the end of the cycle, if you can hear a humming sound but no water fill in the icemaker, it will indicate the water valve is being energized but is not opening. This would also mean the water valve # 242252702 will need to be replaced. If there is no water fill and no sound, a voltage check will need to be made to determine, if the valve or if the diodes in the circuit have failed. A technician will usually need to make this check. I'm listing a site you can access, to schedule a tech to come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

A quick follow up to the icemaker. If your new icemaker has an on/off switch mounted on the side, to cycle this icemaker, press and hold this switch for approx. 15 seconds (see image). If there is no switch, use the procedure listed above. I hope this helps you.

Thank you for your question. Im sorry youre having this problem with the fridge. Unfortunately, without the model number, I will only be able to provide some general information. First, check to see if the dispenser has a lock button and if so, is it activated. Also since the water is not working to both the dispenser and the icemaker, it could have a defective valve or control board. Since the indicator lights and the night light dont work, it could also lead back to the control board, the interface board or a wiring connection. Now, if this fridge has a main electronic control, there will usually not be a fuse but by disconnecting the power for 30 seconds and then reconnecting it, this will reset the board. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and please include the complete model and serial number and I will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

Kenmore side by side Model # 253.54662405, Serial # LA52803924. I was wrong about ice maker, it is still working. disconnected power for 30 seconds, had no effect. Pulled panel off of door, and while moving strip between circuit boards night light came on briefly, indicator lights stayed on longer, but dispensers did not work. at this time none are working. Replaced board on door panel two years ago, when ice dispenser went crazy and would not stop. Any help you can give would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Tim

Tim, based on this latest information, the problem could be in the ribbon or the connection. Check the ribbon and the connection on the boards. The ribbon is # 241680002. If the ribbon is ok and the connections are tight, the control board # 241708309 will probably need to be replaced.
