Question and Answers

Q:

How do I fix my Kenmore water filter that keeps popping out?

A:

Have you recently changed the filter? They are a little tricky to get in, and if you did not insert it correctly it will not stay in. Or, is this something that started happening out of the clear blue? You do NOT want to bypass the filter.

Yes, have tried new filter. Very frustrated. This just happened recently so yes kind of came out of the blue. There are bypass parts available but they look to work in the same manner. In other words the water still passes through the bypass unit as it plugs in just like the filter...so my concern is that the bypass unit will push out as well.

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your refrigerator model 253.53322305; sorry you are having a problem, I will be glad to assist you with this. I have researched your model and find no known issues with the filter popping out as you describe. Because this is not the first filter you had do this I suspect the issue is in the housing the filter fits into. I suggest looking closely at the housing for tiny cracks that may be causing the issue. I will attach a link to Parts Direct and your model so you can view the parts selection in the housing area. I cannot recommend any modification to the water system. I hope this helps, if I can be of more assistance reply with added details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services.Ron H.

Ron, thanks. I have noticed any cracks and there is no leaking. The water supply to fridge is very clean, therefore I was wondering if there was a way to totally bypass the housing and water filter unit to have water go directly to icemaker (really do not need the water dispenser). Looks like the bypass unit that is sold works the same way as the filter, just without a filter, in other words the water flows in one way and out another.

I found numerous similar complaints and they come from the new universal filters that replaced the old filter. I am somewhat shocked that you said you have never encountered this problem while my wife in only five minutes browsing, found many similar complaints. Basic question: Does water run through the bypass filter just like the water filter or is it basically just stopped before traveling through the bypass filter?

A:

Nick, a bypass will allow water flow, it is not a bypass filter just a device to allow flow without a filter inside of it. (water does travel through it. ) Ron H.

Q:

GSI-23 Icemaker

A:

Thanks for contacting manage my life about your Refrigerator model 253.53322305; sorry you are having a problem. The ice cubes sticking to the ejector fingers is most communally cause from warm moist air getting on the fingers just prior to ejection. This will allow the cols ice cubes to stick to a finger and cause a jam. This is most common in summer months and when there is heavier use of the refrigerator (door openings) The solution would be setting the freezer temperature colder so a small amount of warm air does not affect the fingers as much.  Other causes of this could be that the ice mold is overfilling with water making the cubes hard to eject off the fingers. I have attached an image on adjusting the water level on the ice maker that is supplied with your model. I hope this helps, if you need more help reply with added details and I will be happy to respond. If you get to the point where you need to have a service technician diagnose and repair this failure, you can schedule service through this link: Sears Home Services. Ron H.
