Sometimes replacing parts can be difficult. To replace the thermostat on this model will require dropping the control housing down. First disconnect power to the unit. I'm sending you some pictures with instructions to replace the thermostat. This can be a difficult part to replace. There is also a complete new control assembly that is already put together and will replace the control housing in this unit. The new control is # 5303918283 and is available at SearsPartsDirect . I hope this will help you.

Remove the food from the freezer (if you haven't already removed it) and look at the rear wall. The evaporator coil is behind the rear cover in the freezer and if it is frosted over, you will see frost in the vent slots and on the rear cover.

If the evaporator coil is frosted over, remove the rear cover in the freezer and defrost the evaporator coil with a hair dryer. Don't use a sharp object to remove any frost or ice. The evaporator coil is made of aluminum and punctures easily. This will make the refrigerator and freezer work for 4-5 days until the frost forms again.

If the evaporator coil is frosted over, there is a problem in the defrost circuit of the refrigerator. The defrost circuit consists of the defrost heater, defrost thermostat, and an adaptive defrost board. You should go to www.searshomeservices.com and schedule service for a Sears technician to diagnose and repair the defrost circuit.

If there is no frost on the evaporator coil you either have a problem in the sealed refrigerant system or a compressor not running. You should have a Sears technician diagnose and repair the problem.
