I suspect your icemaker is making hollow cubes and sometimes the cubes will break and leak water onto the ice in the ice bin.

You can verify this by inspecting the ice cubes inside the ice bin. If you find some hollow ice cubes you know that is the problem.

If the refrigerator and the icemaker are level hollow cubes are caused by 1 of 2 things.

The water fills into the end of the icemaker opposite the motor and controls. If the water doesn't fill all of the ice molds the one closest to the motor will have a partial fill. The thermostat senses the temperature of this mold and when the thermostat closes the harvest cycle begins. A partial fill causes this mold to cool faster than the other molds so the icemaker harvests partially frozen cubes from the other molds.

To check this put your finger into the molds and see if the front one is less full than the others. This can be caused by a defective water valve not letting enough water into the icemaker. If this is the case, I would replace the water valve

The second thing that can cause hollow cubes is a defective thermostat inside the icemaker. If this thermostat fails it is slightly more expensive and much less work to replace the entire icemaker. If the water level in the ice molds is all the same I would replace the icemaker.

I'm sorry for the inconvenience. The wire harness in question is in the dispenser. This will be the harness connected to the dispenser control board. You will need to gain access to the dispenser again, to check the wires. Be sure to disconnect power to the unit first. If the wires look ok, then the board kit number you received will probably be needed. I recommend having a technician check it first. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

I can understand your concern if the dispenser keeps running. The information you have received is good but does not pertain to this problem. I suspect what may have happened is, the ribbon could be pinched now or punctured creating a short. Check the harness ribbon and if it appears ok, then the board will probably need to be replaced. There is a board kit # 240533602 that is available at SearsPartsDirect . I hope this will help you. I'm sorry but I do not have the capability of making phone calls. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
