Question and Answers

Q:

Is the location of the evaporator cover at the bottom of the freezer?

A:

The evaporator cover for your model is the lower cover panel located at the rear of the freezer.

  • An ice build-up is usually caused when the freezer fails to go into a defrost cycle.
  • Frosting or icing can also be caused if warm outside air is leaking into the freezer. Check the door gasket to see if it's making a tight seal next to the cabinet.
  • If the icing is occurring on the floor of the freezer it's usually related to a drain problem.
  • It can also be from the ice maker if there is a leak during the fill cycle.
This is a problem you may need to have a technician check to make the necessary adjustments or replace a part. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with additional details.

Thank you for the model number.

It is disappointing when a repair does not work out. The actuator may not be releasing properly keeping the switch activated. Sometimes the switch contacts will stick. The control board could be defective or there could be a short in the wiring.

I would recommend using the images below to recheck the actuator parts. Pay special attention to the actuator switches. Make sure the wiring is connected and no visible damage. Voltage checks may need to be made on these parts to find the problem.

Please reply if further assisitance is needed. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I'm sorry you are having this problem. You have received some good information but it will not pertain to this problem. I suspect you mean the dispenser is dispensing too much ice and its falling out of the container. There is a deflector # 240507202 that can be added to the front of the bucket. This will help prevent the auger from pushing ice cubes through the front of the ice container. It's available at SearsPartsDirect . I'm attaching a picture of this deflector and where to install it. I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

THANK YOU Scott D. I looked everywhere for a diagram of where the deflector was located. I could not even find it on the mfg web site. That deflector was a mystery to me. haha Thanks again.
