Hi,

Thanks for contacting ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance not working.

From what you have described the ice switch is not functional.  It is located behind the panel, activated by the paddle you press for water and ice.  You will need to disassemble the dispenser to get to ice switch to check the operation of the ice switch.

NOTE:  Always unplug or de-energize electrical equipment before removing covers or attempting service.

Be careful and wear appropriate hand protection when working around sharp metal parts.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Bill_W, thank you for replying. Can you send me a larger or clearer diagram of taking apart the ice dispenser. (a link to a manual with images will work too.) Also, can you provide me with the part# for the ice switch for my model: 253.44513600. Thank you!

Larger is beyond my control, the images are clamped but if you download them they will blow up and become somewhat clearer. I can not link you to service manuals as they are usually a purchase item if available. Below is a link for the switch, if that turns out to be the problem. Here are the pictures that I can send and i will send the maximum amount, 3 and then send the other 2 in a new reply.

I agree this is helpful information. I had already found this on the "managemylife" site. The tube cutter referred to in this documentation is not available according to the 1-800-4-MY-HOME parts department so I had to cut the tube with a tube cutter sold a home depot. The tubes had to be cut because the part has been reengineered. The part used to have tubes that screwed in. The new part is push-in fittings and the nuts have to be cut off the 4 tubes sothey can go into the new water value push-in fittings. I hope to get some help getting this leak fixed soon :)

Hi,

Thank you for your question. It is concerning when the refrigerator is not functioning correctly.

I have a question about the tubing you are talking about, is it plastic or copper. The reason is the parts break down shows a feral fitting and on plastic it does not work well. The valves you have are john guest fittings.
The john guest needs to be cut square across at 90 degrees. Here is a video of the john guest fittings. JG Fitting .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance please include more details in a reply to this entry below.

I used a straight razor blade to make a clean cut on the tubing and now the leak is fixed. The tubing cutter I used did not make a clean enough cut. Thank you both for your help :)

To reset the control disconnect the power to the refrigerator for 1-2 minutes. The electronic control will reset itself.

You might have a bad membrane switch or electronic control board inside the refrigerator compartment. You could also have a bad main control located in the compressor compartment. It is also possible a wiring connection is causing the problem.

I recommend you go to Home Services and get a Sears technician to repair the refrigerator if resetting it doesn't help.
