Q:

Help with Refriferator 25344382400 Kenmore Elite Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com. I am sorry to hear of the power issue you are experiencing on the refrigerator, I know how frustrating that can be.

This unit has a board behind the control section as you mentioned, two boards for the dispenser, a power and control, and the main power control board.

It sounds like the issue is stemming from the main power control board, key # 50 on the cabinet schematic. Part number for the board is 241511102. That would explain why the user interface board isn't powering up but the lights are still on.

Usually this board in underneath the unit, located either on the left or right, in this case, I think it would be on the right side if you are in front of it and facing it. If you have and are comfortable using a meter, you can test the board to see if any of the circuits are shorted.

I found a topic online that discussed this board and issue you could read for more information, just click here to see it.

If you would feel more confident have a Sears Home Service technician help assist with the diagnosis/repair, click here to be directed to the page to set up service.

If by chance you determine that the board is at fault and need to replace it, I have also included a blue link below that you can click on to be directed to the PartsDirect page to view and purchase the part.

Hey Jonas, I was thinking that was going to be the culprit here. I wouldn't see any need to replace the other boards, they should be fine. Go ahead and replace the power board and you should be good to go. Let me know how that goes and wish you all the best with the installation.

Let me know if I can be of any further assistance and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Thanks I just ordered the part... looks like I have to wait until the 24th. I'll let you know as soon as I know... Would you know what would of caused this to blow or is this something that happens with kenmore? I have a whole house surge protector, nothing else in the house has a problem. Thanks Jonas

It's hard to say for sure, usually with the electronic boards, power surges are the most likely cause. However with you have the full house surge protection, the most likely cause is the age of it.  Boards are replaced on many types of products from mysterious causes, but in this case, with the unit manufactured in or around 2004, I would suspect age.

I will wait for the update once you complete the installation and hope all goes well for you. Have a great day.
