Question and Answers

Q:

How can I cut 2" off of this to make it fit without cutting off the notches in the end that will keep it attached to the brackets? 25331804102 Kenmore Refrigerator

A:

Thank you for contacting SearsPartsDirect.com with your question about your Kenmore Refrigerator model 25331804102. I am so sorry a part you have does not fit your refrigerator. We will be happy to help you with this but will need some additional information.

You indicated that the part is 2" too long and needs to be cut to fit. That sounds like you may have the wrong part. Refrigerator parts normally do not need to be cut, unless you are installing an after market part like a door gasket.  Please resubmit your question with the following information:

(Please be sure to include the model number again when you resubmit the question.) Include the name or description of the part that you need to install. Did the part come with the refrigerator?  If you ordered the part, please provide the part number. Also, did you order it from Sears? Include the location where the part goes. Is it on the inside of a door? If so, which door? Where on the door is it located, top, middle or bottom? Is it inside of the cabinet? Fresh food or freezer side?

With the additional details we will be able to determine if you have the correct part. We can also look up information on how to install the part. We look forward to your reposted question with the information requested. Thank you for choosing Sears, we appreciate your business.

I looked up the information on the Sears parts website using the model number of the refrigerator so, if this is not the correct part, then it is because you gave e an incorrect part number on the schematic. The part no. 240331401 is the bracket that holds things on the shelves of the freezer door. The part looks correct, it is however about 2" too long. I have a picture I could send you if you have the capacity for that. so if I return this, what do I order to replace it? I need the same (2) rack-door is what you can it, only 2" shorter

Thank you for your quick reply and the additional information. With the part number, 240331401, I can now see the part you are concerned about.

In this case, the manufacturer has stopped making the original bar for the shelf on the inside of the freezer door. They have made this cut-to-fit bar to work on several different models that used similar bars. Because the bar is meant to be used on multiple models with different length bars, the part must be cut-to-fit your model.

The original freezer door bars on your refrigerator were 17.99". The bar can be cut using a hacksaw. The notches are not needed to hold the bar on the end brackets as long as the bar is cut to the right length.

I hope this answers your questions. If I can be of further assistance, please let me know. Thank you again for choosing Sears and have a wonderful day!

Sometimes replacing parts can be a little tricky. There is no special tool to cut this trim. You can use some tin snips or a hacksaw. If a hacksaw is used, the ends will need to be cleaned of any burrs. This trim (# 8 in picture) is normally straight, as shown in the picture. I hope this will help you. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
