A:

The last thing I would want on my freezer is an error code since this can keep your appliance from working properly. While you are waiting for an expert answer, I did manage to find a link that will provide you with more information about what may have caused an F error code. I hope my link is useful.

I can understand your concern. The information you have received is good but does not pertain to this code. If only an F is in the display, it indicates the freezer is in the Quick Freeze mode. I'm attaching a picture and information about this code. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

Thank you for your question. I'm sorry you're having this problem with your freezer. This code indicates an operational error has occurred. A technician may need to check this. It is possible the sensor may have failed or it could be a loose electrical connection. The thermistor # 297018400 is located behind the back panel inside the freezer and is usually above the evaporator. Everything inside the freezer will need to be taken out, to remove the panel. Be sure to disconnect the power first. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

What are ohm values I can expect from sensor, any charts showing resistance values at diff temps? Which pins of control were the sensor? Are connections for sensor in compressor compartment, evaporator compartment, or at the door pivot?

A:

Grant, I'm attaching a chart for the thermistor (sensor) temps and resistance. I'm also attaching the wiring diagram, which shows the thermistor connecting to the control. To check the thermistor, disconnect the connector and check across the black and red wires. Use a thermometer to get the temperature inside the freezer and then use the chart to determine the resistance. If the resistance is within 5% the thermistor is ok. I hope this will help you.
