How do I change the 9V battery for my Kenmore freezer?

A:

The 9volt battery is located on the bottom of the freezer behind the toe plate. Remove the battery cover #103 to access & replace the 9v battery.

Thank you for your question. I can understand your concern about the freezer temperature rising. First, check to see if the fan motor inside the freezer is running and also check for a thick frost accumulation on the back wall. If the fan is running but you notice frost accumulating on the back wall, it will indicate a problem with the defrost system. As the frost gets thicker the temperature will get warmer. If the fan is running and there is no frost accumulation, it will need to be determined if the compressor is running. If the compressor is running, the problem will probably be in the seal system or with the compressor. It could be a low charge, a restriction or the compressor may not be pumping properly.
