Q:

My 25326472101 model elite Kenmore freezer beeps all the time, it still freezes to 0 degrees but display on front jumps back and forth between ff and d, 25326472101 Kenmore Elite Freezer

A:

The FF indicates that the freezer is in the Fast Freeze mode. Since the FF is alternating with the "d", this indicate that the control thinks that the door is open. If the door is fully shut, then you probably have a bad door switch. You could have a wiring failure in the door switch circuit or a bad control board that would also cause that failure.

If you need help fixing that problem, let us know.

Thank you for submitting your question. I understand your concern and I will be happy to assist you. If the compressor is running but the unit is not freezing, the defrost system (heater, thermostat, main control) or a fan failure would cause the unit to to cool efficiently. You could also be low on freon. Here is a repair video that wil assist you with testing the defrost system parts. This video repair is performed on a refrigerator that's not cooling but the parts and troubleshooting will be the same. I hope this helps. Please reply back to this thread if you require further assistance. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I'm sorry you are having this problem with your freezer. The information you have received from Joseph is very good. If it is connected to a properly grounded 3 prong wall outlet, this would appear to be a board problem. The main board # 216979700 is located next to the compressor. This board is available at SearsPartsDirect . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.

So in order to get this issue addressed I need to get a technician in to see the freezer, (which I am unable to afford on SSI income) plus the costs of parts and labor...the freezer is still freezing, how long can I wait to have this problem resolved till I can save for this repair?

It's possible that resetting the board may help. To reset the board, disconnect the power for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. If it still flashes, the board will probably need to be replaced. If it's still freezes ok, you can leave it as it is, until or if it stops freezing. This may only be a display problem. I would recommend keeping a very close eye on it and placing a thermometer inside, would be a good idea, to be able to keep up with the temperature. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful.

Thank you so much for your kind replies, I am so grateful! How do I continue to monitor the temp inside the freezer, what is the best way to measure temp. Also, if the board is not good, I would assume the temp displayed is not reliable? I have tried to reset the freezer by unplugging previously and it continued to flash, however when I place it FF-fast freeze the temp does go down...so is this board just displaying crazy temps and is unreliable? As I mentioned before, everything is still frozen inside...perhaps I should just buy a freezer thermometer and place it inside and just pray that the freezer continues to work long enough to find and afford another USED one WITHOUT a digital control panel!

Based on what is taking place, the temperature displayed will probably not be reliable. I would recommend using a thermometer to keep check. When using a thermometer, place it between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. If you feel confident that you can safely replace the control # 216979700 its available at the link listed below. I will be glad to assist you further.

I was finally able to afford a service call for a Sears repair technician, unfortunately his diagnosis left me literally sick in the stomache....he says that the unit has a contaminated system and needs a compressor, evaporator and heat exchanger, he estimates the repairs at 600.00! I am devastated because I had to decline repairs and had to pay for the service call to get this diagnosis. Being on disability income I am unable to afford this repair or buy an other freezer. The freezer temps are staying between 23-28 degrees, most of the food is frozen solid but there are some that is thawing. Please advise me what to do to avoid losing all the frozen meats and veggies I've been buying on sale for a while...I cannot afford to buy a new freezer and I have never bought a used freezer on Craig's List...I wouldn't know what to look for in a used one... PLEASE HELP!...Many Blessings...
