Question and Answers

Q:

My freezer does not stop running 25326452100 Kenmore Freezer

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com and being a valued member. It is unfortunate to hear that you are having issues with your freezer and I do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. I'm looking at your model number 25326452100 and it's normal for units to run a lot and depending on the location and ambient conditions, it could run almost all the time. If it's maintaining a 0-5 degree temperature, the unit is working ok. You may want to adjust the temperature setting warmer, if the temperature is below zero degrees. These units use little electricity and are actually better for the unit to run then to start and stop frequently. Check the temperature inside the freezer. To check the temperature, place a thermometer between some packages. Air temperature is not a good check. The normal freezer temperature is 0 to 5 degrees. If it is in this range, it indicates that it will be shutting off at times or the temperature would be down below zero degrees. In this case, usually adjusting the control to a warmer setting will correct this. If the temperature is above 10 degrees, this is too warm and causing it to run all the time. In this case, it could lead to a problem in the sealed system. Also check for excessive frosting. If this is taking place, it would mean the unit needs to be defrosted. As the frost builds, the temperature will get warmer. I trust this information will help you.

Thank you for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com.

Having a freezer act up when you're trying to sell it can be aggravating. I did some research and provide a link to a similar question on our site. I hope this will help you out and shed some light on the problem until the Expert responds in more detail within 24 to 48 hours.

Thanks, but I had responded to that thread a while ago. We were told this was an uncorrectable design flaw when it first happened to us, so we lived with it.

From the description you give nothing works on the unit. Are there any lights? I suspect a control failure since nothing works at all. I would suggest plugging another appliance (hair dryer/dril) into the outlet just to confirm voltage is okay. I suspect the 297282800 control is at fault but a technician should confirm this. You can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

The lights work. In fact the control unit lights work and you can move the display from 1 through 7. It is just that nothing else seems to work. I, too, suspect the control unit but I was looking for verification.

If the lights are on but nothing works than I suspect the conrol is at fault. If the compressor is the problem I would expect the freezer fan to work at least. The control can be obtained from the following link: Control .

I have a same model freezer that is doing the same thing. Are you able to say for sure that this is the problem? My freezer has sentimental value to me because it belonged to my mom and dad. I would like to fix it myself if possible. Can you help?
