A:

It is normal for the sides of the cabinet and the portion of the cabinet the door gasket seals against to get hot.

The hot refrigerant is circulated through coils attached to the inside of the cabinet and around the door opening before it goes into the condenser coil on the rear of the cabinet. This lets the heat from the refrigerant lines dissipate and keeps the cabinet from sweating.

The cabinet should have 3-4 inches around it for air circulation. The temperature of the cabinet will depend on the ambient temperature of the air around it.
