Q:

Kenmore Freezer #25324082100 stopped working 25324082100 Kenmore Freezer

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.
Sorry to hear of the issues you've had with the Kenmore upright freezer, I know how frustrating that is to have occur.
There is a run capacitor and controller that plug into the side of the compressor, they help the compressor turn on, and maintain the freezer temp. Typically if these go out, they will click, but I have seen instances where that's not the case. Is the condenser fan motor at the back-bottom working?
If you have a multimeter and are comfortable using it, I would check these components, the ratings will usually be listed on the component's case for testing purposes.
I would start here as it would be the most logical explanation to the issue you're having.
Hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.

Thank you. I will check the voltages. The condenser fan does not operate either. Do the capacitor and controller also direct power to the condenser fan?

Thanks for the response and sorry for the delayed response. Since you indicate the condenser fan motor is also not running, that indicates you could have an issue with the temp control. If the temp control goes out, it would kill power to the compressor and the condenser fan motor. I would pull the evaporator cover and also test that component. That could explain why you have no power to those components.

From what you’re describing it sounds like the freezer lost power for a few hours. The freezer has to run until the temperature is satisfied (within 12 hours) or the buzzer will sound again when you turn the alarm switch back on. Please see the image provided from the owner’s manual page 7 explaining how the alarm works.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

SAFETY NOTICE: Be sure to disconnect power to the appliance before performing any repairs. If you are not comfortable with doing any voltage checks that might be recommended, please contact your local service provider for repairs. Be aware that there could be sharp edges inside the appliance that could cause cuts or other injuries to yourself or others.

my freezer inside back is covered with frost, top is about the temp of a refrigerator, bottom is keeping food frozen. i defrosted it once and it seemed to work properly for a few days then is doing the same thing. from research i thought maybe the drain line was plugged. the line drains into a cup that is full of water. is this normal? or what is going on if it will work ok for a few days? this happened several years ago and it worked fine after i defrosted it but it is reoccuring this time.
