Q:

Kenmore Freezer 253.21721103 water leaks at drain sleeve

A:

I wanted to add that the freezer is 11 years old. the leak was occurring from the lip of the sleeve from inside the freezer. My theory is that the plastic of the part is not making a tight seal anymore or the sealant failed.

 Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

What would be needed is a part called 5300807509 Sealer Food grade RTV sealant.  The drain should seal once the RTV is used.  Food grade is greater in price than regular RTV.  The drain may not be replace if it is not damaged and can be sealed back into the cabinet.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Bill

Kenmore Upright Freezer #25321721103: This freezer is in my garage & it completely froze, the compressor is my concern. Should I let it defrost on its own

A:

The temperatures affect us and most things we own that operate with a motor. While you wait for the expert to answer, you can check some information that may help from another web site. I attached below. Hope this helps!

I'm sorry you are having this problem. However, I'm not sure what you mean by, it completely froze. If the compressor had frost built up on it or if the inside of the cabinet was all frosted up? In either case, frost or ice will not affect the seal system. Sometimes, if the small cap tube breaks loose from the larger suction line, it can cause the suction line to frost up, back to the compressor. If this is happening, it will not hurt the compressor, unless this has been happening for an extended period of time. I recommend having this checked by a technician, to determine what is happening or if the seal system needs to be checked. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, any additional details will be helpful and I will be glad to assist you further.
