Q:

Why does the alarm sound every 12 hours on my freezer?

A:

There is a bimetal in most alarm circuits to activate the alarm if the temperatures reach an unsafe level. The bimetal could be out of calibration.

Please submit another question with the model number in the question detail field. I will then be able to answer your question with more possible things to check.

Q:

How can I stop my freezer from beeping even after the battery has been replaced?

A:

Since you are getting the low/no battery alarm every 12 hours even after replacing the battery, it is likely that you have a wiring failure or control board problem that is causing the alarm. You could unplug the freezer and remove the access panel and check the wiring between the batter and the control board. The wiring diagram for this freezer is shown in the image below. This wiring diagram shows that a black and red wire connect the battery to the control board. If you have a volt/ohm meter, you can check the resistance and the DC voltage through this wiring connection at the control board. If the connection is okay and you have no DC voltage problem (measure 9 volts DC), then you would need to replace the control board to fix this problem. There is not a way to disconnect or disable the battery back-up or the alarm.

Ihave had this problem and have requested help a number of times; I have been given all sorts of useless suggestions from Sears (clean the coils, but there are no coils.) they are very willing to send a repair man, but reluctant to give me advice. FINALLY SOLVED THE PROBLEM: THREW THE CIRCUIT BREAKER TO CUT OFF POWER; ELECTRONIC CONTROL RESET ITSELF.I ilearned this when I talked to a sears tech and mentioned that we had had a power outage just before this problem occurred. ALSO LEARNED THIS: SEARS STILL HAS A FEW (ONE?) TECHS WHO CAN GIVE SENSIBLE ADVICE. I saved $75 service call to tell me this information.

Q:

Why is the temperature light flashing and the quick freeze button wont work

A:

Since you did a defrost, the good part is the freezer was not full of food. I found a similar question from a previous post that gives some reasons this may be happening. I attached below. If you have the model number handy to add to this thread, it would help the expert provide a better answer. Hope that freezer is working for you soon. http://www.managemylife.com/mmh/questions/125255-does-alarm-sound-freezer-food-thaw

I understand your concern if the freezer temp light flashes. Now if this started after you defrosted it, this will be normal. The light will flash until the temperature drops back down to approx. 10 degrees. Now if the quick freeze button does not work, the most likely problem will be with the main module # 216979700. If the temperature is below 10 degrees, the module could also be the reason why, the temp light is flashing. Try to reset the module by disconnecting power to the freezer for 30 seconds and then reconnect it. If the problem still occurs, the module may need to be replaced. I recommend having a technician check it first. I'm listing a site you can access, to have a tech come out. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services . I hope this will help you.
