Question and Answers

Q:

I am working at an Off Grid Home that has a Kenmore chest freezer, the name plate lists a 5 amp draw however the unit has a constant 65 watt draw 24/7.

A:

Hi,

Thanks for contacting  ManageMyLife. I understand how frustrating it is having trouble with your appliance.

The freezer should be drawing no current unless the damp draw was taken in the last 1/3 of the cycle and the draw could be 65 watts.  Your freezer is a total manual freezer meaning there are no boards inside of the freezer.  If the 65 watt current draw is when everything is off then there may be a shortage inside of the freezer.

Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help.

Thank you for using ManageMyLife.com.

Q:

What parts do I need and what can I re-use, to fix the freezer lid?

A:

If the inner door panel (# 9) is not damaged, then it will probably only need, the outer panel (# 11). In this case you can use the rest of the parts. They will transfer to the new door panel # 216129931. The only other part you may need is the insulation # 5303917276. If the inner panel # 216829304 is damaged, you will also need to replace it and get the clips # 5303212828 along with it. If you need more assistance, please resubmit your question, with additional details.

Q:

Is it frost free or manual defrost?

A:

Owner’s manuals generally refer to more than one particular model. In your manual it refers to upright frost free freezers. This chest freezer is a manual defrost type. Most chest freezers will be manual defrost. A good way to determine if it's frost free is if the unit has an evaporator fan motor. Frost free units have a motor and manual defrost freezers won't. If you need more assistance you can resubmit your question with more details.
