Question and Answers

Q:

Freezer got hot on compressor side and temperature began dropping to 29 25314592101 Kenmore Freezer

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com. I will be more than happy to assist you. Let’s see what we can do for you.

I’m looking at the information on the Kenmore chest freezer, 253.14592101. I’m showing that if your unit has stop working all together, not kicking on at all. There is a capacitor and controller on the side of the compressor that has gone out.

Now it could be one or the other but with something with this I wouldn’t chance it. A freezer is a valuable asset that you don’t see till it stops working. I would suggest replace both altogether. The part number for the capacitor is 5304464438, and the part number Controller is 216649300.

Hope this information has helped you. If you are not comfortable doing this repair you can click here to schedule a technician or call toll free 1-800-469-4663.

If you have any further questions or concerns, you will have to post a new question. Again, thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com.

Thank you for your question. This can be a tricky control to access. First, disconnect power to the unit. Now, the overlay (# 57 in picture) will need to be peeled off. The overlay # 216947402 is easily damaged and will usually need to also be replaced. With the overlay off, you will have access, to the screws holding the control. I hope this will help you.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
