Q:

compressor or controller? 253.14092102

A:

Thank You for choosing Sears PartsDirect.com. I regret to hear that you are having issues with your fridge and do understand your frustration. Glad to help out. Im looking at your model number 253.14092102 and you will want to make sure the thermistor is reading the temperature correctly and from your description I suspect the controller is bad. The compressor has a long life expectancy and rarely fail. The controller keeps control of the temperature of freezer. I hope this information helps you with your troubleshooting.  If you do not feel comfortable doing the repair contact a technician.  If you have further questions please resubmit your question for further information.

A:

I replaced the relay/electronic controller that sits on the compressor next to the capacitor, the compressor began working and the temp seemed to be responsive. Do I need to replace the thermistor or the main electronics board? Just where is the thermistor and what does it look like? Perhaps its contacts are dirty and could be cleaned...

Thank you for your question. I did some research and the link given to you by Marco is the correct one for this model. You called it and upright, but the parts and the image show it as a chest model.
The diagrams for the upright and the chest are the same but the parts are different. I will give you this picture of the diagram. It is the standard diagram for freezers of this type.

If you have other question about this freezer, reply to this thread.
