Question and Answers

Q:

What impeller assembly works on a Sears Shredder, 5HP model 247.797854 or 247.797855?

A:

If you will send another email with the correct model number of your chipper/shredder, we can determine which impeller you need.

One of the 2 impellers you received should have worked on your chipper/shredder. We might have to request a bin check at the warehouse. It sounds like the impellers have gotten mixed in a bin.

If you can remove the old impeller and note in your email if the engine shaft is straight or tapered that will help with the research.

Q:

I need a chute for my chipper and part is discontinued where do i go to replace 247797854 Craftsman 5 h. p. chipper shredder

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

Unfortunately the chute assembly has been discontinued and the design has changed so there is nothing similar enough to sub in its place by the manufacturer. This is primarily due to the age of the unit.

I also ran an online search for any that may be for sale or in circulation, but didn't see any matches. The best thing you could do at this point would be to fabricate a replacement of sorts. Sorry I couldn't be of more help for you.

Let me know if you have any further questions and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com.

I had the same issue with the exact same chipper/grinder. Fortunately, someone from Sears was able to locate a replacement, but that was 3 years ago. I kept my old chute hoping to one day have someone repair/weld it so I would still have a replacement.
