Q:

Why is my Craftsman Lawnmower Model 247.37136 spewing white smoke?

A:

I understand that your Craftsman lawnmower had white smoke coming out of it. I have taken some time to research your question here on the Manage My Life website and noticed that many others have had this problem with there Craftsman lawnmower also. I attached a couple of links below for you to view while you wait on an experts response. I hope the link that I provided you is helpful. Have a nice day.

If you tilted the mower over when you changed the oil some oil likely made its way into the crankcase breather and is causing the smoke you have currently. Allow the mower to sit for several hours and then run it again for a about 30 minutes to see if the smoke clears up. This little engine will normally take about 24-30 ounces of oil, so if you put more than that in it could very well be overfilled. If you suspect it is over filled, tip the engine to drain out a few ounces and then give it another try. Keep in mind that no matter what there is already oil in the head and muffler so there will need to be about 20-30 minutes of run time to burn that out.

Thank you for using Manage My Life!
