Thank you for your question.

I am sorry you are having a problem with the trimmer. I looked up the manual for your model. I looked at the instructions for the line and was not able to see any wrong instructions in the copy I have. The head on this model is a quick load design that is different from the old style. It is important to only load about 10 feet of .095 line at a time. If you allow the line to get to short before bumping the head you will need to remove the line from the cutter and reload the remaining line. I hope this helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance on the trimmer.

I am not able to authorize any kind of refund in my department. I recommend calling our customer care line. The number for them is 1-800-469-4663. They will be able to review your complaint and make any adjustments. Thank you for using Manage my life.

Thank You for the response. This is indeed a quick load head design. However, the manual clearly states that you need to turn the bump head knob clockwise to load the line onto the spool. This is incorrect. The knob has to be turned counterclockwise. One of my helpers went through a 200 yard spool of line because he followed the manual instructions. The line just kept spinning out of the head. He was following the instructions so I cannot blame him. I just cannot see the justification in paying for another spool of line when the manual is blatantly inaccurate. I am a loyal Craftsman customer and I would be sad to have to turn my back on Sears and Craftsman after all these years. Thanks

Another thing I would like to point out is that my manual says load 16 ft. of .080 line only when restringing the trimmer spool. It says never to use anything but .080 line, which is aggravating when you are trying to cut higher weeds that this line can't handle. Thanks

Interesting. My Manual is not even close to that. I will try and scan the pages somehow or find a version number of the manual I have. Thanks for the info.

Caustic Casey,

I am beginning to wonder if you have the correct manual. Please click on the link below to load the manual I show for this unit. If you are cutting larger weed with this trimmer it will handle it but will use much more line. I think you would be happier with a bigger model that will handle larger line. The larger line will cut the thicker weeds without breaking as easy. I recommend discussing your trimmer needs with your local Sears sales person. They should be able to direct you to the proper trimmer for your needs. Thank you for using Manage My Life! Mark T.

The manual has the exact model number on the front. I took the manual in to Sears and showed the salesperson the error in the instructions. His exact words were - "you are right, this is incorrect". He told me he had to contact his manager, which he did by phone. After a 30 second conversation with his manager, he came back to me and said "sorry there is nothing we can do". The manager would not even show up to face me. So I said, "do you think it's justified that I have to give you more of my money when Sears is blatantly wrong?" He kind of sneered at me and said "sorry". This is a chance for Sears to own up to their inaccuracy and take care of a loyal customer. It's not a money issue, we are talking about 20 dollars here. It is more matter of doing what is right. I hope Sears sees the value in keeping a loyal customer happy. Do the right thing. If anyone wants to see the manual I would be more than happy to provide it. The manual you sent me is part number 769=06806 P00 (Located in the lower left hand corner of the front page...) My manual is part number 769-06437 P01. Please don't tell me to go back to the store and deal with these kids who think I want something for nothing. I am serious about this. Again, do what is right and I will remain a dedicated customer to Sears products. Thank You.
