Q:

Why won't my wash machine spin or agitate? WSM2420TCAWW

A:

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when the washer will not spin or agitate.

If the washer will not agitate or spin but it will drain, then you could have a broken motor coupler between the drive motor and the transmission

WH17X93 is the motor coupling. If the motor coupling goes bad it will cause your unit to not spin or agitate.

Q:

why isnt my washer draining and spinning? wsm2420tcaww

A:

Thank you for choosing Sears, I will be more than happy to assist you with your GE washer.

From the information you provided, I would suggest replacing the lid switch. You were right on track with thinking you have a bad lid switch. Which to me seems like it is on its way out. The lid switch is the most common problem when it comes to the spinning and draining of the unit. The part number for the switch is wh12x955. From what you have stated above, replacing the lid switch should fix the issue with the drain and spin.

I hope you found this information helpful. Thank you for choosing Sears Parts Direct. We appreciate your business. Have a great day.

Am trying to help my daughter to fix her wash machine with similar symptoms to what is listed above. I can get it to add water but I can't get it to spin or agitate. I know there is power to the machine due to the water valves going on but when I drop the water level down to smaller load I can't get the machine to spin or agitate. Any ideas on what I can check?

Thank you for choosing SearsPartsDirect.com and being a valued member.  I can certainly understand how frustrating it can be when your washer has no cold cycle.

I have attached the instructions to test the water temperature switch and inlet valve.

If you test them and they are working, then it points to your timer.
