Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

Your model has an electronic control which controls the motor and lights. I suspect it has a faulty control board. The cost of the control board is listed below.

  • Part number for white is #97014588 - $90.49
  • Part number for almond is #97014589 - $101.49
  • Part number for black is #97014587 - $101.49

The control can be ordered from Sears Parts Direct .

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thank you for the feedback! Sorry I made a mistake in the description of the problem. My husband just clarified to me that he has not tried to energize the fan directly, and has not seen it run at all after the outage. However, he did isolate the wrong breaker in the house panel, so he got a small charge when touched the control board for removal, so at least we know that the panel is getting power. So, the whole range hood is for now, dead in the water. Nothing works, period. Is there a way to know if the problem is with the control panel or with the touch pad, or a way to test all components? Thank you

The wiring diagram for this range hood is shown in the image below. The second set of details indicates that you had power supplied to the board through the black wire (traced in red). Make sure that you have the correct breaker shut off and check the white wire (traced in green) to make sure that it has a good connection. Check the control board for any apparent burn marks or damage. A power surge likely damaged the control board when the power was briefly restored in the first failed attempt that you described. If you verify that the black and white wires are connected properly, then you will likely need to replace the control board and possibly the touch pad as well. You can view a parts list diagram for your range hood and order the parts from the Sears PartsDirect website.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .

If you need more help, submit additional details and we will assist you further.

Q:

Why does the light go out & the fan motor pulses on my Kenmore range hood?

A:

On this model the control board has an auto temp feature. This allows the fan motor to adjust the speed automatically depending on the temperature. This pulsing of the motor is normal. For the light going out I would recommend checking the light bulb & socket. If they check good I would replace the control board. Be sure to turn off electrical power to the unit before attempting any repairs.
