A:

The hood has an electronic control board that controls the lights and the fan. More than likely the control board has failed.

The control board is mounted behind the knob that controls the fan speeds. I would inspect the control board for a broken wire. If the wires are good I would replace the control board.

The part number of the board is 97011801 and the price is $32.99. You can order the board at Parts Direct

Check the installation clearance about the top of the range as shown in the image below. The top of the counter above the range hood should normally be 30" above the cook top. If you have less than 30" of clearance as shown below, then heat or steam from the cook top could be causing the premature failure of that light lens. Even if you have the proper clearance, the heat and steam from the cook top could still be causing this problem. Run the exhaust fan when you are cooking items that produce a large amount of steam. Make sure that the exhaust vent duct system to the outside of your home is clear. If these tips don't help, you may need to have a service technician examine the range hood to check for other potential problems that could be damaging that lens cover. Here is a link for the Sears Service website: Sears Home Services .

I am not aware of any common issues or problems with that part.

If you need more help, reply with additional details and we will try to assist you further.
