I know that it can be very frustrating to have issues with your vacuum. It sounds like the pile height adjusting lever is not changing the height of the roller brush. Lay the vacuum on its side and push the height adjust button with your hand. You should be able to see the roller brush or wheels change position. If the height adjust button is not working, contact the retail store about exchanging the vacuum. If the height adjust button is working, you might just need to adapt to the new vacuum. The strong suction will make the vacuum harder to push on some carpets. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

What do you mean about contacting my local Sears store about exchanging the vacuum? What is the cost to do this exchange? I did not purchase an extended warranty and the unit is about 10 years old. If there is a cost then I need you to give me the details on the parts i need to make the repair.

William, I apologize for the confusion. I was assuming it was a newer vacuum. However, on your model the switch for the High Low setting is located on the handle. In order to replace it, you need to replace the handle. This is part number 8174837 and will cost about $22.21 plus tax and shipping. Please let me know if you need anything else. Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I can understand how important it is to have the right parts for your vacuum. On this model the wheel is held on with a locking tab. If you do not open and close it when you put the wheel on, it will not lock into place.  If the tab is broken, then the wheel will need to be replaced, since it is all one part. I hope this helps. If you need further assistance, please reply to this thread. Thank you for using Manage My Life.
