Q:

How to replace a water pump on a GameFisher 5 HP outboard, model # 217586613

A:

I am sorry we do not have a service manual for this outboard. To replace the pump on this model the lower end has to be removed. Other than that, I am not sure how to do this repair. I recommend looking on line for a repair manual. You will be looking for an Eska service manual that covers the years yours was made. Eska is who manufactured your outboard. I did find a video that might be close to yours. Click on this link to watch the video.

Q:

Sears GameFisher 5 HP Outboard Model 217586613. Water Pump

A:

Thank you for your question.

I will be happy to assist you. I looked up the model number you submitted. The pump kit for this unit comes with the impeller so you do not need to order that as well. We no longer offer the parts but I was able to find a site that still offers the kit. The part number for the kit is 190214 and can be ordered from this link

I hope this is helpful. Please let me know if you need further assistance.

Thank you for using Manage my life.

Mark, you ROCK! I was really getting bummed about the motor I bought. I was told it was much newer than it turned out to be and knew that water pumped was going to be a problem as the motor has not ran for 5+ years. ANOTHER QUESTION: I am assuming the motor is going to be okay once I clean the carburetor, replace the spark plug and replace the water pump. I also plan to blow out the water lines to ensure they are clean and replace the lower unit lube. IS THERE ANYTHING ELSE YOU SUGGEST I DO? FINAL QUESTION FOR NOW: Can you provide a procedure for replacing the water pump. I am handy mechanically BUT have never replaced one.

If you look at the link below fro the Parts Direct website. You can view the gear housing assembly. When you view the diagram of the gear assembly you can search for the o-ring which is part #8. When you click on it, it will explain the size of the o-ring. I hope this helps!

It would actually be inside part #10 of the gas tank assembly.

Thank you for your question.

I can understand wanting a new o-ring for the fuel connector on the outboard motor.

I am sorry but they do not list the size of the o-ring for the motor.

I can get you a part number for the fuel fitting but not just the o-ring.

I would suggest taking the motor to a Marine service shop in your area and ask the service parts counter person if they would have and 0-ring that would fit that engine. They may be familiar with replacing these and have them in stock. They may also have a universal o-ring kit that they can pick from.

Your local big box home centers will have and o-ring drawer to choose from as well and some auto-parts stores in the area.

I apologize that I could not get you that information for you.

Thank you for using Manage My Life.

I matched it up at Menards. It is a 7/16 ID X 9/16 OD X 1/16. It is #41 in there o-ring bin.
