Q:

Turns Off Before Clothes are Dry 79681473210 Kenmore Elite Dryer

A:

Thank you for your inquiry on your Kenmore Dryer, Model: 79681473210. From reviewing the details on your model, several problems could cause the dryer to end the cycle with the clothes only half dry. In the auto cycle, the timer advances when the thermostat is satisfied and opens to cut off the heat. If the operating thermostat is not closing properly to reignite the burner, then the timer would advance quickly to the end of the cycle and the clothes would not dry properly. A venting problem could also prevent the dryer from cooling back down properly so that the operating thermostat would close to reignite the burner and prevent the timer from continuing to advance. A high limit thermostat could also be opening prematurely to advance the timer faster than normal and prevent the clothes from being dry by the time the cycle ends. I recommend checking your lint screen and the exhaust vent system to the outside of your house first. Make sure that the flexible vent behind the dryer is not kinked or clogged. Make sure that the exhaust duct to the outside is not restricted or clogged.

Safety Warning: Before beginning the repair, disconnect the direct power supply to the dryer to prevent the risk of injury or any electrical shock.

Q:

washer 28062800

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear that the washer is giving the OL error code even when there is minimal load within the basket.

There are usually two things that cause this, an article of clothing under the basket, or the basket stuck down on the basket driver hub. Your washer uses a tachometer to sense the rotation of the motor and it is sensitive enough to detect if the inner basket is engaged or not. If debris gets between the basket and the tub it causes drag and that will cause the OL code. If the basket is stuck to the drive hub and down, it will not disengage correctly, and it will also affect the RPMs, which will give the code.

I would first unplug the washer and open the lid. Reach in and pull up on the basket, with enough force you should feel it come up and hear it clunk, disengaging from the drive. If it will not come up and is stuck to the drive, this is the issue. If it does come up, then you will need to open it up and look for an obstruction.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
