Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

The first thing to check is to see if something has fallen behind the drawer. Remove the drawer by sliding it out until it comes to a stop and then lift the front up and continue to slide the drawer out. You may find something had fallen over the back of the drawer preventing it from staying closed.

This may be the issue. If not, please reply and I will be glad to assist you further.

The first suspect is the water filter. Top back right of the fridge compartment there should be a plastic "oil can" that unscrews-clockwise-looking-from-above, inside of which there is a cylindrical water filter WF1CB / RG-100. Replace that filter. The filter should be widely available but this particular image was taken from fridgefilters.com

Yes, a full water filter can stop water flow. Were talking Prime Suspect here; filters need to be replaced every 3-6 months depending on use & water quality (chemistry). If the fridge is less than a year old, it is under warranty (the filter itself isnt). If it is more than a year old, it would not be surprising that it need to be replaced. Water filters are (outrageously) expensive ($40-$50), but you will need to replace the water filter sooner or later. Your fridge is manufactured by Frigidaire under the Kenmore name. Manufacturers often offer diversion pieces that allow you to forego the filter, but even good tasting water tastes better filtered.

Thank you for your question. I know it can be disappointing when the icemaker and dispenser stop working. You have received some good general information. The filter does filter the water for both the icemaker and dispenser, so if it gets clogged, the water flow to both components will be affected. If there is a humming sound, when the dispenser is activated, it indicates the valve is being energized. The valve in this case, will probably need to be replaced. If there is no sound, some voltage checks will need to be made to determine for sure if the valve has failed. There are some diodes that may have also failed and will prevent any water flow. This can be a difficult check and repair. I would recommend having a technician make this repair. I hope this will help you. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and I will be glad to assist you further.

If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
