Question and Answers

How do I adjust my Kenmore chest freezer so the new gasket will seal properly in the back?

I am sorry the owners manual is not available for your freezer. The owners manual would not have any information about repairs such as replacing a gasket in it.

Try loosening the screws in the lid so you can move the gasket and slide it toward the front of the door to remove any slack from the back and the rear corners. When the lid closes the back edge is drawn tight to the cabinet by the hinges. The rest of the lid just lays on the cabinet.

If this doesn't work remove the gasket and put it in the bathtub in very hot water for 30 minutes. Keep the water hot by draining and adding water as it cools.

Take the gasket from the bathtub and dry it and as quickly as possible put it on the freezer, hopefully while it is still warm. This will remove wrinkles. Remember to stretch it tight on the rear edge and rear corners again. Let any slack be taken up by the sides and front edge.
