Q:

Will the 1755 fit into a cabinet made for a 1937? 15817550 Kenmore Kenmore sewing machine head

A:

I can understand how important it is to have the right information for your sewing machine. Unfortunally there is a 60 year different between the two units. The new one will not fix inside the 1937 cabinet. This is made for a much smaller and attachable unit. I hope this helps. Please feel free to let me know if you need further assistance. We are always here to help. Thank you for using Manage My Life.com.

Hi, There must be some misunderstanding my 158-1755 was made in 1971 and the 148-1937 was made 1976. Both machines are zig-zag and the 1755 does embroidery. I am viewing a picture of the 1937 in an online "for sale" ad and the machines look very similar in size, shape and design. (The ad states the model number as 1937) Neither machine appears 60 years older than the other. I don't want to purchase the model 1937 machine and sewing desk, get it delivered and then find out that I can't swap out the machines and put my model 1755 in the desk, so any help you can offer me is appreciated. Thanks.

I am very sorry for the confusion. It looks like these model numbers have been recycled to match newer machines. The ones that I am seeing are were both produced in 1987. This means that we don't have any information on the 1971 and 1976 models. This inculdes the size of them. I did some reseach and found that they are very similar, but the 1937 is just a little larger than the 1755. The cabinet will fit the 1755, but attaching to the desk will be difficult.

The engine on your lawn mower should be a 20 hp Kohler,SV600S-0010. Just as you were told.

You should get 2 quarts of oil. The engine will take 1.6 quarts and about 2 ounces for the filter. I recommend you crank the engine and let it warm up before draining. When the oil is drained and the new filter is installed, put about 1 1/2 quarts of oil in the engine and run the engine 1-2 minutes then check the oil. Screw the dip stick in all the way when checking the oil. Add oil as needed till the oil touches the "full" mark on the dipstick. It is better for the oil level to be just under the "full" mark than just above it.

If you have gasoline left over from last season, pour it into the gas tank of an automobile and buy fresh gas. Add the fuel stabilizer per the directions.

The part number for the oil is good, order 2 quarts and you will be fine.

I am sending you the list of parts I looked up. Some of the numbers are different than what you have. I recommend you order the parts from the list I am sending.

Inspect the blades on the mower deck. If they are worn, bent, or chipped you should replace them. The mower has 3 blades.

The engine has 1 spark plug and it should be gapped at .030. It will probably come gapped to .030.

We looked at our lawn mower's engine and it says its a Briggs & Stratton ELS V-Twin 725cc. So did you give me the correct information? Your post says its a 20 hp Kohler, SV600S-0010. Again, we have Model #107.277900, which we found located under the seat. We appreciate your clarification.

I am glad you noticed the mower has a Briggs and Stratton engine. I apologize for sending the wrong information. The model 107.27790 mower uses a Briggs and Stratton and a Kohler engine. I did not look close enough. The parts diagram shows blades for a 44 and 50 inch mower deck. I am sending both part numbers. If you need blades, order the size that fits your deck. The Briggs engine has 2 spark plugs. The plugs should be gapped at .030.
