Thank you for your question and I understand your concern.

According the AO Smith motor number D27266, the capacitor kit is part #D21477 which can be ordered from Searspartsdirect.

I hope this is helpful. If I may be of further assistance as more details become available, please reply to this post.

Thank you for your response. Are you sure this is the run capacitor and not the start capacitor? I see some conflicting info on the net.

Kurt: If the motor only has one capacitor which I'm pretty sure that it only has one capacitor, the part number of the capacitor kit I provided in the correct one. If not let me know. The document I have providing the part number refers to the capacitor as a Start capacitor kit. The AO Smith motor does not likely have two capacitors.

It definitely has two capacitors: a start and a run capacitor. I need the run capacitor.

Kurt: I do not show a run capacitor according to the parts image and part list for the AO Smith motor. You will have to look on the run capacitor and get the MFD specs and then I may be able to locate a part number.

Well, don't take this the wrong way, but if I had the specs I could find the part. I'm asking for assistance because the two sided tape used to hold the capacitor to the bracket pulled off the specs. I've included a photo of the capacitor in my question. Here are some markings from the capacitor. 61b20220136nrme. CGE. 136-1 (tape removed remaining numbers) 625622. 220vac. 50/60hz. OP.T.MAX 65(tape removed) 3990 17 28 25-05-03. I don't know if that's enough for someone to figure out what capacitor I need.

Kurt: The capacitor numbers do not help me. The information below was copied directly from the Owner's Manual. To determine which capacitor kit is needed, look on label (under rear shroud) for motor supplier: GE Start Capacitor Kit order D23936 GE Start and Run Capacitor Kit order D30107 A.O. Smith Start Capacitor Kit order D21477 WEG Start Capacitor Kit order D29142 I was not able to locate the part # of the capacitor needed. Are you certain the capacitor is bad?

The motor is an AO Smith D27266 as viewed on the motor ID tag. The compressor will turn on, run for about 2-3 seconds and trip the breaker. That leads me to believe the start capacitor is fine, the run capacitor may be failing. I noticed a very small amount of corrosive leakage at the base of the run capacitor contacts. This lead me to believe it's the run capacitor.

Kurt: I recommend taking the capacitor to place that has a capacitor tester and have it tested. If you have a volt/Ohm meter, you can also test it with the Ohm meter. Discharge the cap and then place the Ohm meter leads across the terminals. The Ohm meter should show resistance and then bleed off. Reverse the Ohm meter leads and it should measure the same. If it does, the capacitor is Okay. Or, take the capacitor to an electrical repair shop and they will likely have a capacitor tester and test it for you and let you know what the MFD rating is. I'm sorry but I have no other solution to finding the correct capacitor. You can also find instructions for testing a capacitor with a mutlmeter on the internet. Hello. Thanks for the link. I have already tried the reset code many times. It does not solve the problem. I have read the posts about possibly being a failed heating element. I Believe that it is because the heating element is not hot. Hopefully an expert will reply and let me know if I need to replace the control board if I replace the heating element for my model.

Thank you for your question. When replacing the heating element, with some models, there is a new control that has a program added to monitor the operation of the heater. However, if the element is not heating, I recommend checking the element itself to make sure it has failed before replacing it. First, disconnect the power to the dishwasher. The element should read approx. 10 - 30 ohms resistance. Be sure to disconnect the wires from the element when making this check. There can be various reasons why the element is not heating. If you would like more assistance, reply to this thread and please include the complete model and serial number and I will be glad to assist you further.

Dave, the partial model number listed brings up several models. It appears that these models will not need to have a new control board. The other 2 numbers do not appear to be serial numbers. I hope this will help you.

The water fill cycle is controlled by the main control board, which you replace with no improvement, the water valve which works at the beginning of the cycle and the float switch. Make sure the float is in the correct position. If you lift and lower if you should hear a click from the flood switch. The images below contain the instructions to enter and run the diagnostic test cycle. The 2nd image shows what should be running and when in the test. Try this and let me know how it goes. If you do not feel confident repairing this problem yourself, then you can have it repaired at your home by a Sears technician. Here is a link for the website: Sears Home Services .
