Question and Answers

Q:

Lawn tractor runs off battery power and then stops running? 1693088 Simplicity Tractor

A:

Thanks for the inquiry and for being a valued member.

I am sorry to hear of the issue you’re having with the Simplicity tractor. I know how frustrating that is.

I am not completely clear as to what the exact issue is, but I suspect that you’re saying the engine is not charging the battery while in use? The documentation we have on this tractor is limited, so I am not able to see the Kohler engine model number you have. You will need to look at the engine and verify the Kohler engine model to see the engine specific parts. Most Kohler engines use an alternator/stator and a regulator for the charge system.

If the battery is not being charged while the machine is at full throttle then it will be the regulator or the alternator. On the regulator, you should have 2 white wires and a black wire in the center. At full throttle, there should be 28-35VAC on the white wires. At full throttle, the black wire should have 13VDC (check from black wire to ground). If you have those voltages then there is something else going on and I'd have to say it's most likely with the battery.

I hope this helps and thanks for using SearsPartsDirect.com. We appreciate your business.
